During this National Day holiday, top-level sports events made the industrial heritage of Shougang Park shine brighter!

On the evening of October 6, the WTT China Smash successfully concluded in Shougang Park. Chinese athletes were so blessed as to claim all five titles. Men's and Women's Singles champions Lin Shidong and Sun Yingsha came to the High Line Aerial Walkway of Shougang Park to take promotional photos against the backdrop of Big Air Shougang and the cooling tower.

Following Chinese athletes winning two medals during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics for big air events, Shougang Park was once again hotly discussed on the Internet, setting off a wave of table tennis fever. The red flags and decorations inside the stadium and its surroundings in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China were dazzling and stunning. As a popular event throughout the "National Day" holiday, the WTT China Smash exerted a significant effect on stimulating the vitality of the park and consumption. From September 26 to October 6, there were altogether 635,000 visitors. From October 1 to 7, there were 448,000 visitors, with an average daily passenger flow of 64,000, up by 75% from the previous year and 26.3% from the Dragon Boat Festival. Since the start of its operation, the WTT China Smash Park has received 58,000 visitors. The high-standard facilities for training and games, thoughtful services, and an enthusiastic environment have won the praise of guests and athletes alike. From October 1 to 7, there were more than 30,000 media reports about Shougang Park.

There is no need to describe the popularity of Shougang Park in words as it is shown in the latest Internet buzzword ''from winter sports to table tennis'', a box office of about RMB 60 million for the WTT China Smash Park (excluding the ticket sales), few tickets left for the Beijing Shougang Ice Hockey Arena, out-of-stock WTT badges, and the cheers, whoops, and clapping around the WTT China Smash Park with an area of nearly 40,000 m2.

On the afternoon of October 6, Chinese table tennis athlete Wang Chuqin held a meet and greet with fans at the WTT China Smash Park. A combination of factors including the "National Day" holiday, the appeal of table tennis, the top level of this event, and its status as a new landmark for urban renewal revived Shougang Park as the official partner and venue of the WTT China Smash 2024. According to the relevant statistics, in addition to ticket sales, the WTT Smash drove sales revenue in Shougang Park to more than RMB 29 million. From October 1 to 5, the hotels in Shougang Park were fully booked, and restaurants such as Shougang Canteen next to the WTT China Smash Park and Liugong Hui Mall were often full of diners. As a "phenomenal" event, the WTT China Smash breathed new life into Shougang Park.

On the eve of National Day, a "blast furnace concert" was held at the 2024 Beijing Xishan Yongding River Cultural Festival, sparking cultural tourism fever in western Beijing. The Fantastic Liugong Hui Steel Town presented a cheese carnival, fantastic sports games, and off-work art festival. During the National Day holiday, the "Shijing Mountain Garden Party" allowed for a feat of light shows, performances, and beautiful views of Beijing while climbing the mountain. During the event, Liu Guoliang, Chairman of the Chinese Table Tennis Association, Chairman of the WTT Board, and First Vice President of the International Table Tennis Federation, also climbed to the top of Shijing Mountain.
