''This is the first time that I've participated in a parkour competition on such a slope. It's so challenging that it stimulates my desire and passion to win. More importantly, this is where the Chinese team won two gold medals during the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics. I feel very honored and proud to be a part of this event!" said Zhang Yijie, a well-known Chinese parkour athlete.

A set of aerial tricks brings with it youthful passion and vigor. Parkour and skiing start at the same height but head in different directions. After setting off, there are greatly varying feats of acrobatics. From October 19 to 20, the "Leap Towards the Olympics in Beijing" Shougang Orienteering Challenge of the PWT Asia Tour 2024 (Beijing) was held in Shougang Park. In addition to orienteering events, there was also the Big Air Contest and Chase Tag, as well as the "Leap Towards the Olympics" Western Beijing Sports Gathering and "Leap Towards the Olympics" Western Beijing Music Festival.

This is the first big air contest in the history of parkour, a sport that combines speed and visual impact. Set in a natural environment or landmark building, it requires rapid, effective, and reliable moves to circumvent obstacles and reach the destination based on physical strength while performing feats of acrobatics along the way.

A set of aerial tricks brings with it exciting challenges. As the operator of the big air contest, Shougang Sports fully utilized its sports and other resources to develop "Leap Towards the Olympics" and orient events around the Big Air Shougang venue. The first character of "Leap Towards the Olympics" means a leap down from the jump platform, while the second and third characters represent the glory of Beijing as the host city for both the summer and winter Olympic games, the exemplary role of Shougang Park in the reuse of Winter Olympic venues, and the unrelenting pursuit of Olympic glory.

Centering around Big Air Shougang, this event combined industrial style with cultural, sports, recreational, and tourism elements. Not only did it reflect the value of the legacy assets of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics, but it also focused on the positioning of Shougang Park as a "sports +" platform to set an example of Olympic-driven urban development.

A set of aerial tricks brings with it the experience of being young. Big Air Shougang is the world's first permanent venue for big air events, as well as the first venue in the history of the Winter Olympics to be directly linked with the reuse of industrial heritage. It is also the place where the Chinese delegation won two gold medals at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics.

A representative of Shougang Sports said, "Shougang Sports has introduced parkour to Big Air Shougang for the first time. This is not only because parkour echoes Shougang Park's efforts to develop a distinctive 'sports +' industrial system, but also because it is a pragmatic action to promote the spirit of the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics and fully leverage its legacy assets. The introduction of 2D animations, concerts, and food markets will bring more visitors to Big Air Shougang, make for a more fully integrated, artistic, and recreational environment, and cater to a multi-layered variety of needs. This will allow the legacy assets of the Winter Olympics to continuously unleash cultural potential, stimulate sport consumption, and help to make China a sports powerhouse."
